THE annual Soup and Cheese Lunch held at Newton St Cyres was well supported and raised £486 for Parish Church Funds.
The ladies had all worked hard to produce four delicious home-made soups, which were Armenian, bacon and lentil, corriander and carrot and chicken and vegetable.
There was a good supply of both French and brown bread on the tables and a selection of cheeses, all followed by teas and coffees.
John Salter ran the tombola and he and wife, Chris, looked after the bric-a-brac stall. There were also home-made cakes, books and toys.
Vice Chairman, Tony Hough ran the draw which had many prizes.
