THIS coming Sunday, October 9, approximately 500 individual cyclists will be riding a 55-mile route which starts and ends at Fingle Glen Golf Course at Tedburn St Mary, in aid of the FORCE cancer charity.
The FORCE Autumn Storm Bike Ride will start at 8am with cyclists starting in batches through until 8.45am and the route has been chosen to limit the impact on other road users.
The route goes west from Fingle Glen via Cheriton Bishop over to Yeoford, heads back to Morchard Road, goes left to Winkleigh, across to Broadwoodkelly, through Monkokehampton, on to Okehampton and through Whiddon Down before heading back to Tedburn St Mary.
Where possible utilised cycle network routes will be used. Special signs will be posted to warn motorists at appropriate points along the route and will be removed afterwards.
In addition, adequate first aid coverage and cycle recovery teams will also be on patrol.
Two rest stops will be established en-route.
Past experience suggests all cyclists should arrive back at Tedburn St Mary by 4pm.
This event is a charity ride, it is not a race and is not timed in any way.
FORCE provides essential cancer treatment works locally to support anyone diagnosed with cancer.
