THE Devon Mark Charity Association has made a generous donation to a local charity.

Crediton and District Playscheme Association for Children with Special Needs has received £1,000, thanks to the Crediton Mark Lodge who, under the guidance of Past Crediton Mark Lodge Master, Peter Howison, proposed the charity for sponsorship.

Julie Rice, chairman of the playscheme, said she was grateful to all involved in the Devon Mark Charity Association.

She explained that the playscheme provides trips out for children with special needs aged five to 16 years, all the children coming from the Crediton area.

She said that the charity is able to provide some respite care for the children and parents.

Peter Howison said that he was pleased that the Mark Masons Lodge was able to help.

He said there were 40 provinces in Devon, adding that 25 different organisations applied for a grant this year with just eight receiving grants, Crediton Playscheme being one of them. Alan Quick
