A CREDITON woman, Linda Savage-Jones, has written to Tony Hogg, the Police and Crime Commissioner for Devon and Cornwall, expressing her concerns about the loss of police officers locally due to cuts.

Mr Hogg, in his reply, said: "I can understand that you are anxious about the potential loss of police officers in Crediton.

"It is important to point out that no decisions have been taken yet on the final number of officers that will be reduced or from where they will be withdrawn from.

"Please be assured that I am doing everything that I can to persuade Government that their plans are bad for policing and bad for Devon and Cornwall.

"The reason why we are making many of the changes such as closing police stations is so that we can divert as much of our resources into protecting the vulnerable in our communities."

Mr Hogg also commented on his attendance at the Home Affairs Select Committee, explaining that he was arguing the case for Devon and Cornwall Police and alerting the public to the threats faced.
