BUNTING outside and a big buzz of chatter inside saw Crediton Community Bookshop full of people for Community Business Weekend.
This is a national event, run for the first time in 2016. It is organised by Power to Change, the independent trust that supports community business in England.
Its website says that Community Business Weekend exists to shine a light on the 7,000 community businesses across the country - one of which is Crediton Community Bookshop.
Run by Dee Lalljee, the Bookshop certainly shone a light on a number of Devon-based authors, several of whom were very local to Crediton.
The event, held on Saturday, May 5, was mainly organised by Hannah Smith who lives in Crediton, has just finished her MA in Publishing and has been volunteering at the Bookshop for 18 months. Dee said it was thanks to Hannah that the day worked so well.
It was also the launch of the Crediton Community Bookshop coffee, “Bookshop Blend” created for the bookshop by Crediton Coffee Company.
Dee says it is an organic coffee, a mix of Brazilian and Mexican, used for the first time that day, available as beans or ground and part of the refreshments on offer.
