FLAGS went up at Dowrich, Sandford, to celebrate the 75th anniversary of VE Day on May 8, and the Guernsey flag was also proudly flown for Liberation day on May 9.

Elizabeth Lee explained that sadly she was not able to celebrate in Guernsey due to Covid-19, but thought of her late father, Ron Le Page, who lived on the island during the German occupation.

She said: "We should not forget the terrible times people endured and the senseless loss of lives suffered by so many during World War Two.”
