ON Sunday, September 28 the Lymington Arms sadly closed quietly and without any fuss. After declining business over the last six years, the pub closed.

The Lymmy has been closed before, back in 2001 and for a time in the early 90s but will we get it back in the present climate where pubs are closing at a rate of knots.

The Lymmy is located near the small village of Wembworthy. With only a small number of villagers using the pub, it has always been a destination pub.

It needs to have a draw. In the past it has always been the good food and welcoming atmosphere.

So, the question is… can the Lymmy be great again.

The locals would love it to be great again.

It is on the market and we hope someone might see it and buy it! We need someone with the right skills and funds.

It has great potential – the garden could be opened up. A proper coffee machine installed.

The bar and restaurant could be modernised. The toilets given a revamp. Maybe some play equipment to welcome families.

The worry is that the owners go for change of use… and we never have a local pub again.
