IT is with regret that I am standing down from my role as Crediton History Talks Organiser which I have enjoyed for three seasons.

It was a fascinating and fulfilling experience to work alongside CAHMS (Crediton Area History and Museum Society) members and to meet so many inspired individual speakers. Huge thanks to everyone for putting up with me!

I can thoroughly recommend this post to anyone who is genuinely stirred by local history and has a commitment to putting together a programme with variety and depth to appeal to a growing audience.

It's a great chance to contact people who are great speakers and can engage with an audience to share some of their findings into local history.

You will find that speakers are very generous-spirited and all of them welcome the opportunity of meeting appreciative local people and to share the fruits of their research.

It's heart-warming that so many audience members have been inspired by these talks to follow their lead and conduct their own research into aspects of local history.

We are so lucky to be able to draw on the rich resources of Exeter University, the Devon Association and the Exeter Cathedral Archives - in addition to a vibrant network of local history groups in Devon.

This is a wonderful chance to shape the future of CAHMS and to entertain and inform our Crediton community for years to come.
