ON June 4, I parked in the car park whilst attending a service at Holy Cross.
I then went to an exercise class at The Arts Centre.
At 2.15pm as I was going to collect the car I tripped up up the kerb and landed on my hip. I knew instantly that I had broken it.
Shortly after the fall a gentleman, sorry I cannot remember his name, stopped and called an ambulance, only to be told it would be at least 2.5 hours before one could attend.
He went to the Boniface Centre and got a wheelchair, but I did not feel able to get into it.
He then went back to the Boniface Centre and got a blanket and some cushions.
Two young ladies, Breya and Lucie, came and although I did not know them, insisted on staying until the ambulance arrived.
Then Alden, a first aider from Crediton Dairy came and gave me his coat and then a foil blanket.
He then called Rob who worked at the Dairy and was a part-time paramedic.
He took my observations and liaised with Ambulance Control and eventually when my condition deteriorated he sent
a video and my case was upgraded.
The ambulance arrived some 30 minutes later and I eventually arrived at A and E at about 5.30pm and spent two weeks in hospital.
At one point it started to rain and a lady gave me her umbrella.
I would like to thank everyone who helped me then - some I can remember the names, others I have forgotten, but a HUGE thank you to everyone.
I was in a great deal of pain and they did all they could to cheer me up having to lay on the pavement for 2.5 hours.
Thank You
Bronwyn Nott
