THINGS move on and May 7 was the first day since 1995 that Nick Way hasn’t represented this area on some council or other!

He completed 24 years representing Boniface ward as a District Councillor and, when he stood down last Thursday, he had completed 16 years as county councillor for the town and surrounding villages.

That’s an impressive record by anyone’s standard and many of us have reason to be grateful to Nick for the causes and individual needs that he has championed throughout those 26 years.

I worked with Nick on the needs of our area over most of these years and I know how much he deserves our thanks for the effort and enthusiasm he has put in.

Our link road would not be there had it not been for his campaigning and negotiating for many years, so our traffic and air pollution problems would have continued at a far more dangerous level.

He worked for countless other improvements throughout the Crediton area and hopefully will enjoy his well-earned retirement.

I’m sure I speak for many individuals and parish councils when I say a big thank you to Nick for all that he has done.
