AS a user of St Saviour’s Way Car Park in Crediton I am appalled to see that as from April 1 the charges for parking will no longer give anyone the lower option of parking for £1 and has jumped to giving only the £2 for 10 hours option, or a charge of £5 for all day.
Yet another reason for people to not bother stopping in Crediton.
The short-stay car park at Market Street is only small and parking on the high street is always difficult.
Do we really need to discourage people from shopping in Crediton any more than we already do.
Surely this hike in pricing could have been avoided - making people pay for 10 hours of parking if they only want a couple of hours seems a very unfair way of trying to make money, yet again, out of the motorist.
When no-one bothers coming to Crediton because of the cost or difficulties in parking - Mid Devon District Council will make less money than they hope.
Does this mean they will implement even more extreme price rises just to cover their costs?
Higher pricing does not always bring in more revenue, sometimes it brings in less, or more people turn away from using the facilities.
Short-sighted change of the pricing structure. Not helpful to Crediton’s already fragile economy.
