LOCAL organisation, Poetic Licence, is planning a digital celebration for its first birthday tomorrow, Friday, June 12.

The organisers, Ysella Sims and Jane Tipping, met at Plymouth University while studying for their Masters Degree in Creative Writing.

The inclusion of a poetry and flash fiction open mic platform at the Crediton Festival 2019 seemed to them an interesting idea.

The first meeting proved so popular that thereby came the birth of "Poetry in the Pub" at The Lamb Inn, Sandford, on the last Friday of every month.

Participants from, not just the local area, but all over Devon attended, with an appreciative audience and inspiration from Headliners.

These have included, up-to-now, Dr Sally Flint, Marc Woodward, Adam Skerrett, Roisin’s Brother, Ian Royce-Chamberlain and Jackie Juno.

As soon as life is back to normal, let’s look forward to some more stimulating, exciting, innovative and enriching Poetic Licence events.
