LAPFORD’S first pantomime for 10 years looks set to be a corker. Lapford Amateur Dramatic Society (LADS) was re-formed last summer after a long break.

Over this weekend it is presenting a “rags to riches” story, the traditional Cinderella but with a few twists.

Tickets were sold out before Christmas for the three performances at the Victory Hall. Some of the cast have been on stage before at Lapford, others are new and there is a band of children giving excellent dance routines.

The sets are good, costumes also, plenty of chance for the audience to hiss and boo and there are some awful jokes in the best pantomime tradition as well as the banter between audience and cast.

Congratulations are due to everyone for their ability and enthusiasm to stage this good fun show.

So nice to have live music provided by Alex Gater, piano, and Paul Adams, guitar and vocals.

Set design was by Roger Janes, costumes by The Ark Sew ’n’ Sews. Emily Yendell created the choreography, Cat Heal and Nancy Hayes were in charge of make-up. Stage manager was Peter Lacey and the lighting and sound was by Piers Fletcher.

Members of the cast are Tom Irving, Bonnie Bolt, Ray Foxell, Roger Janes, Ian Wilkie, Nick Atkinson, Tamsin MacLellan, Cat Heal, Ian Hemsworth with Callum Phillips, Phoebe White, Emily Yendell, Sue Yendell, Jaqui Jones, Ayana Kikongo, Dairy Dickenson and Hope Peake.
