FANTASTIC weather helped to make this year’s Lapford Revel one of the best.

It included Maypole Dancing, flower competitions, a Royal procession, dancing, exhibitions, parachuting teddy bears and circus skills.

On the Tuesday Lapford and District Horticultural Society held its Rose and Sweet Pea Show

On the Wednesday there was an exhibition by Lapford children and Lapford Revel Committee about the History of the village school and on the Thursday there was the grand opening when Flynn Bowdler was crowned Revel King and Ellie Cairns as Revel Queen.

After the ceremony there was a dance display by Razzle Dazzle Street Dancers and Maypole Dancing by children from Lapford Primary School. That will be followed by a display by Winkleigh Morris.

Friday saw a Revel Fun and Games Evening at the primary school organised by the Yeo Valley Christian Fellowship.

Revel Day, on Saturday, July 11, included fun and games with Rob and Dex of Entertaingly Different, the Travelling Talesman, teddies parachuting from the church tower.

The evening saw entertainment by “The Twerzels”.

There was a flower display by local organisations in the church with a display of the Children’s Revel Art competition entries.

On the Sunday there was a Songs of Praise Service in St Thomas of Canterbury Church.

Darren Crump, chairman, Lapford Revel, said the Revel was a great success with something for everyone.

He thanked fellow committee members and all those who helped.
