MULTI-MILLIONAIRE Kevin Green made a return visit to the local charity he helped six months ago as part of a television programme.

The property landlord first stepped through the door at Amber as part of The Secret Millionaire, the Channel 4 show in which millionaires go under cover to learn more about communities before they donate funds.

The Chawleigh-based charity helps unemployed homeless young people to gain confidence, skills and qualifications they need to get a job and lead independent lives.

Mr Green was so moved by what the charity was trying to achieve he donated £20,000 to help pay for IT equipment and a treadmill for the new gym.

Kevin has now agreed to run the 26.2 miles London Marathon on April 25, along with Adele Wilkins, who also featured in the Secret Millionaire programme as her disabled daughter (whose name is Amber), will both be running in aid of Amber.

The pair will also be running with two friends, Gregg Ellis and, the presenter of the BBC programme "Under the Hammer", Martin Roberts. Gregg and Martin will be taking part in the London Marathon in aid of another of Kevin's favourite charity's Make A Wish which grants wishes for sick or terminally ill children. All four made the visit to the Amber Centre at Ashley Court, Chawleigh.

While he was there, Kevin, explained that when he was younger he was homeless like some of the people who are now helped by Amber.

He said he was "fortunate" to have been able to turn his life around and be in a position to help others.

He affirmed that he saw his involvement with Amber as a "lifelong" commitment.

Sue Crawford-Condie, from Amber, said: "Kevin pledged to stay in touch.

"As a landlord, he was particularly impressed with the practical hands-on approach of Amber and its 84 per cent success rate."

The millionaire also gave money to the Barnstaple Poverty Action Group and the Children's Hospice South West based at Little Bridge House, Fremington.

Mr Green is one of the largest private landlords in the country. He owns 267 properties and is worth an estimated £29 million.
