WHEN it seemed likely that there would be no Summer Scheme for Young People because of adult members’ personal commitments, young member of Cheriton Fitzpaine Drama Club, Vicky Lancelles, bravely stepped in to save the day.
With help from other adults ie: Geoff Burchmore, Richard Chapple, Sue Yeates, Becky Smith, Christina Cross, Julia Metcalf, Claire Cavill, Emma Cliffe-Duffield and Penny Rudler-Doyle, a “Junior Summer Showcase” was organised.
The children and young people took us on a journey through different styles of drama, including some very realistic fight scenes, where, they assured us, nobody actually gets hurt. All the children showed a confidence on stage which boded well for the future of the Drama Club.
Thanks are also due to David Simms who provided lighting and music, and at times, acted as a stagehand.
Without David Pink to set up the stage and hall, there would have been no production.
Prior to the 6pm performance, afternoon tea was served to older residents of the village, served on the pretty crockery which Barbara Pratt and Becky Smith are collecting for just such an occasion.
This was organised by some of the parents led by Becky, who were helped on the day by Christina Cross.
