THERE were more entries than ever at Lapford and District Horticultural Society’s Autumn Show and the judges all agreed the exhibits were of a high standard.

The largest marrow, weighing in at 20kilos was entered by David Holley.
Heaviest onion Richard Hassett; Longest Runner Bean Rowan Peto; Odd shaped vegetable Sue Briant-Evans;
Most Impressive Weed Trisha Mumford; Eggs Sue Briant-Evans and Richard Hassett.
The Potatoes grown in a bucket from one tuber were emptied and weighed at the show and the winners were: 1 Richard Hassett, 2 Ann Stentiford, 3 Eileen Ridd.
Peter Heal won the trophy for Best in Show with his three magnificent dahlias.

The cup for Most Points in the Show was won by Eileen Ridd. Children’s entry Susannah Down.
Paul and EIleen Ridd with Pat Gowie worked hard throughout the afternoon serving refreshments.
All the Cups were presented by Margaret Tucker and judges were Paul Cleave (cookery and photography), Mr Horton (fruit, flowers and vegetables), Mary Tasker (floral art, crafts and photography).
