THE Public Inquiry to consider evidence in respect of possible noise issues with regards to an application for the Den Brook Wind Farm, near Bow, will resume on Tuesday, October 20.

The Inquiry into the Renewable Energy Systems (RES) Developments Ltd plan for nine wind turbines in the valley between Bow, Spreyton and North Tawton is due to last for five working days.

The plan also includes electricity transformers, control building, wind monitoring mast and access tracks, crane hardstandings and associated works plus a temporary construction compound and two temporary wind monitoring masts.

The Planning Inspectorate say that time will be made available for a discussion on draft noise conditions and to hear the statements of principal parties confined to noise matters.

The venue will be The Ockment Centre, North Street, Okehampton. There is no parking on the site, but long stay parking is available at Mill Road.

The first part of the Public Inquiry was heard over eight days starting at the end of July.

After only two days it became apparent that there was too much evidence to be heard. It was at that time that the inspector, Andrew Pykett, agreed to hear the noise evidence at the later date.

At that time RES were not best pleased with the decision to hear the noise evidence at a later date, however, the Den Brook Judicial Review Group (DBJRG), which opposes the scheme, was pleased that its evidence would be heard in full in October.

Mike Hulme, who has been researching noise issues with wind farms for the past four years, said that a major concern for local residents, should the turbines be built, will be "unacceptable and potentially health damaging noise emanating from the turbines".

He continued: "We believe the developer is understating the potential for unacceptable levels of noise and our research shows they are ignoring important aspects when claiming there will be no noise nuisance.

"We are confident our data analyst and acoustic expert's evidence will demonstrate that RES has, yet again, got it wrong despite their claims to the contrary."

Mr Hulme again issued an appeal for funding towards legal and professional expert's costs.

Mr Pykett is expected to make his decision, whether to approve or reject the Den Brook Wind Farm, before Christmas.
