IN response to your article (Courier, January 30, page 10), regarding the cuts to the local bus services and asking for emails saying how it will affect us, may I point out that so many of the older generation, of which I am one, that use the buses don't do email! I admit I don't use the bus service as much as I should but the time is fast approaching when I shall be very glad to use the service on a regular basis. At the moment I try to walk as much as possible for health reasons but more often than not I am glad to use the bus to bring me home up the very steep hill near my bungalow. I think it is imperative that we don't lose these services as they are a lifeline to many people enabling them to live independently in their homes where they have lived for the greater part of their lives. Take away the buses and for those who don't drive or have given up driving they will be completely stranded. Finally I know most of us have bus passes and travel free-of-charge so would it help if the service was subsidised and we were asked to pay reasonable fares? PS Try walking up Pounds Hill or Jockey Hill with a bag full of shopping! Barbara Roberts Victoria Crescent Crediton
