DEVON County Council is being asked to take immediate action to prevent a serious road traffic accident following the installation of a new cycle lane in Belle Parade, Crediton. Cyclists are ignoring signs which direct them through part of Newcombes Meadow and are continuing along a narrow stretch of road where they are faced by suprised motorists travelling along the one-way stretch in the opposite direction. Other issues have included safety of pedestrians in Newcombes Meadow, where previously, cycling has not been permitted. Better signage and additional white lines are being requested. Pedestrians have also been walking on the cycle lane, which was only installed last month. A road "hump" has been considered to slow motorists along the stretch of road and a call for more signs near the Library. Alan Quick
