FIRE crews were called to a report of a domestic property on fire off the road from West Barton Cross to Eggesford Cross, Nymet Rowland, at 4.20pm this afternoon, Tuesday, August 7.

Fire appliances from Chulmleigh, North Tawton and Witheridge were sent to the property where the fire involved wooden sash window frames and the roof of the property.

Firefighters discovered that one dry powder extinguisher had been used by the owner to put help out the fire before the arrival of fire service personnel.

One hosereel jet and small tools were used to put out the fire and a thermal image camera were used to make sure the fire was out and the area was safe.

The property was ventilated by fire crews.

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service concluded that the cause of the fire was accidental.
