A HERITAGE open day will be held at Crediton Parish Church on Saturday, September 16, from 11am to 3pm.
Local experts will be on-hand to show visitors around the building and hopefully answer all those questions that have perhaps never previously been asked. Questions about the challenge of maintaining the building and its contents will be especially welcome.
Access will be available to the bell tower and the Governors Room on the top floor of the chapter house.
Tours to the bell tower will take place at 11am and 1pm and to the Governors Room at 12 noon and 2pm. Booking for both is advised.
There are many treasurers at the church, monuments of national importance, a Harrison and Harrison organ, one of the best peals of 12 bells in the country and many smaller items of local and regional importance.
Some of the highlights include the Crediton Green Man, English Civil War artefacts and St Boniface depicted in some of the stained-glass windows.
There will be short audio-visual presentations, a heritage trail for children and light refreshments will be available.
Donations are invited for The Holy Cross Crediton Campaign Roof Appeal.
It is hoped to have at least one Heritage Open Day at the parish church during 2018 but a date is yet to be agreed.
Further information about the Open Days is available from Bill Jerman on 01363 772865.
