THE next talk in support of the Holy Cross Campaign Roof Appeal to be held on Wednesday, February 6, will be given by Dr Paul Chanin and will feature an illustrated talk about one of the countries best level mammals, the otter, which can now be thankfully found quite widely in Devon including on the River Creedy and in the centre of Exeter near the Quay.
Paul’s talk is entitled “The Return of the Otter” which will take place at the Boniface Centre in Crediton and begins promptly at 7.30pm.
Paul lives locally in Crediton and is an internationally known mammal ecologist who has been involved in conservation since the 1970’s.
He is perhaps best known for his work with otters and for the two books he has written about them. He has also carried out research on other British mammals including badgers, mink, pine marten and red deer as well as more exotic species such as beavers and spider monkeys.
Paul was a lecturer in Adult Education at Exeter University for 24 years. He has also worked as an independent ecological consultant offering advice on protected species of British mammals such as otters, badgers, water voles and dormice.
Admission to the talk is £6 and includes light refreshments.
To-date the roof appeal has raised the sum of £108,000.
