A NEW card designed to help people with Autism has been launched in Devon.

The Autism Alert Card Scheme is joint-funded by Devon and Cornwall Police, Devon County and Plymouth City Councils, Dimensions for Living and Devon Link-Up.

The card is designed to be carried by people with Autism, and to identify its carrier as a person living with Autism, affecting how the person communicates with or relates to other people and the world around them.

It can potentially help any situation in which a person with autism finds it difficult to express themselves, or make themselves understood. They will be able to show the card when in a stressful situation or in contact with emergency services.

The card is universally welcomed as a tool to raise awareness and help keep the person safe.

The card will be free and available to people with autism aged 10 and over.

To apply for a card follow the link from the Dimensions for Living website: www.dimensionsforliving.org .
