LARGE crowds flocked to Hayward’s Primary School Fete which was held on a sunny evening on the school field.
The fete, organised by the school’s Parent Teacher Association (PTA), had an Olympic theme and the children started the fete with a parade with each class representing a different country.
Children and adults enjoyed a range of activities and stalls including face painting, a bouncy castle, coconut shy, cake stall, sweet stall, jazzy jars, bar, barbecue, ice-creams, lucky dip and class photo sales.
Members of Crediton Detachment of Devon Army Cadet Force were on hand to show children what they do and firefighters from Devon & Somerset Fire & Rescue Service were at the event with a fire engine. There was also a Lightning McQueen car at the fete to raise awareness of sepsis.
The teachers ran a stall competing to see which class could raise the most funds, to win a class treat.
A raffle was held with a first prize of £50. Donations of prizes were received from
a number of local businesses and attractions.
Organiser, Anita Foxford said: "The PTA are grateful to W F Chinn for the loan of a chilled van, Crediton Youth Football Club for the loan of their marquee and to Crediton’s Tesco store at Wellparks for sending along two members of staff and donating the buns for the barbeque.
"It was great to see so many children and parents in attendance, we were so lucky to have the sunshine.
"A big thank you goes to all the PTA members, as without their organisational skills and work these events cannot happen."
