MID Devon District Council has opened a public consultation as it looks to secure a prosperous future for the town.
Until April 15, the public will be able to comment on the proposed Cullompton Masterplan and Delivery Plan, which forms the basis for the regeneration of the town.
The aims are to enhance the town’s economic prospects and provide a clear strategy to ensure it meets its full potential as an attractive and thriving Mid Devon town.
In addition to submitting written comments, the public can also attend drop in events staged throughout the town during the eight week consultation period.
Councillor Graeme Barnell, Cabinet Member for Planning and Regeneration said: “This consultation event provides a great opportunity for interested individuals, groups and organisations to make their comments known on how they would like to see Cullompton Town Centre in the future. This is a fantastic opportunity for the public to influence how the future of Cullompton will look.’’
Drop-in events will be held on:
• Friday, March 13, foyer of Tesco, Station Road, Cullompton, 2.30pm to 6pm
• Saturday, March 14, Farmers Market, Bull Ring, Cullompton, 9.30am to 2.30pm
• Monday, March 16, Hayridge Centre, 1 Exeter Hill, Cullompton, 4pm to 7pm.
A summary of the presentation boards will be available throughout the eight week period in the reception at Cullompton Town Hall and the Hayridge Centre, Cullompton during normal working hours.
The masterplan is being produced in the full knowledge of the major projects planned in and around Cullompton, including:
• North west Cullompton urban extension
• New homes allocated to the east of the town
• The proposed Culm Garden Village with up to 5,000 new homes, new jobs, schools and local centre
• A Heritage Action Zone which will see investment into Cullompton’s historic high street, and
• Potential for the reopening of Cullompton railway station.
Before any masterplan can be adopted, two stages of public consultation are required. The first consultation stage, which this is, considers the scope of the masterplan and any key issues. The second consultation stage considers the draft masterplan following receipt of comments from stage one.
