TODAY is a very special day for your local newspaper, the Crediton Courier.

It was on this day, December 1, 1974, that the Crediton Courier, then the Crediton Country Courier, was first published.

Since then the Crediton Courier has been campaigning to make a difference to the communities it serves.

The “Courier” has come a long way since the first issue in December 1974 when it began as a monthly publication, then proceeding to become a fortnightly publication in the mid 1980’s and in April 2013 we became a weekly title.

In addition, you can get the latest news from your “Courier” online.

Check our website for the latest breaking news, follow us on Facebook or Twitter or even sign up to our newsletter so you never miss out on the latest news.

Of course, the newspaper is available each Friday from stockists in the town and throughout a wide area.

Additionally, more than 60 people receive the “Courier” on memory stick, the Crediton Talking Newspaper, recorded especially for those with little or no sight by volunteers organised by the “Courier” and the Lions Club of Crediton and supporters.

Week-in, week-out, without fail, the Crediton Courier keeps you up-to-date with the news that matters to you most. Holding politicians to account, making sure your taxes are put to the best use, publicising your campaigns, local events, fundraising and other happenings, your good news, sport, and what’s on – we are your local news service.

Local papers like the Crediton Courier remain committed to being your eyes and ears and your champions.

Newspapers are active in their communities, campaigning on issues that matter to their readers.

The Crediton Courier is part of Tindle Newspapers, which as a group puts being “local” above everything else.

You, our readers and advertisers, help us to continue to provide a first-class local news service.

We note that a number of towns and areas have lost their local newspaper due to the economic climate and because of other reasons in recent years but the “Courier” is a success due to your support. Thank you again to those have helped us in any way over the years.

Let’s work together to make sure that the Crediton Courier continues to be at the centre of our communities.
