ON Sunday, March 21, Rev Alison Richardson led an informal service at Crediton Methodist Church, when her theme was "Green Shoots?"

The call to worship from John 12 says: "Unless an ear of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds."

The family challenge was to show pictures made up of seeds. Six people took part, showing fruit and vegetables made using lentils and other seeds.

Alison and one of our congregation took part in a drama called "Twenty Acorns" by Tony Raine.

This told of a shepherd sitting under the shade of an oak tree. He explained that he had planted 20 acorns per day for 50-plus years and a huge forest had now grown.

Alison said that in the reading Jesus explained that He will have to die so He will be able to glorify the Father.

His death and resurrection brought about green shoots for the disciples and through them the word of God grew and flourished. She said all of us are green shoots and everything we do is for the glory of God. God will turn it into something special.

The church is closed again. If you would like to join us live at the Sunday morning services at 10.30am please contact the AV team using the email [email protected] . Individual help will be given to work out how you can best access the worship. Alternatively you can watch the service at a later date by going onto: www.creditonmethodist.org.uk .
