THE newly decorated and refurbished resident’s lounge of Housing and Care 21, Newcombes, was the venue for the last committee meeting of the Crediton and Area branch of Devon Senior Voice (DSV).
The amalgamation with Devon Communities Together (DCT) is now complete and Crediton members may now form a monthly friendship group, to continue exploring issues that specifically affect the older generation.
A further meeting is planned for next month to continue this discussion. In the meantime, “goodbyes” and “thank yous” were given by Chairperson, Carole Towler.
Diana Edworthy was thanked for taking over as Treasurer when Ron Cuthbertson stepped down earlier this year. Ron was warmly thanked for all the work he had done for the group over the years, not only as treasurer, but also for printing all the many posters, organising conferences at the Boniface Centre and in the old Town Hall and much more besides.
Both Ron and Diana were given a box of chocolates.
Paula Kovacs was presented with a plant pot full of spring flowers and warmly thanked for acting as secretary and, as well as taking the minutes, for writing and submitting the monthly press release to the “Crediton Courier” (who were also thanked).
A special, fond mention was made of former Chair, Pauline Thomas, who sadly passed away in October 2015, and who was instrumental in involving the group in the yearly Christmas Tree Festival at the Boniface Centre.
Group members would like to warmly thank Carole Towler for taking over as our Chair and doing a sterling job.
For further information about getting involved with any future meetings, please contact Carole on 01392 851600.
