COLDRIDGE Village Hall committee hosted a party at the hall to say farewell to two local residents who have devoted much of their time to serving the community in many ways.

Peter and Liz Abbots are moving from the area to live nearer to their family in Wiltshire.

Peter worked on various local farms and Liz was a former pupil at Coldridge Primary School, in what is now the Village Hall.

The couple were involved in the many aspects of village life including the Village Hall and Women's Institute, helped organise Coldridge Fete and Vintage Rally and also with events at the parish church.

A tremendous spread of food and drink was provided by members of the hall committee for the farewell party.

The committee chairman, Jim Sampson, gave a moving and amusing tribute to the couple.

He then presented them with a gift voucher and flowers on behalf of the committee.

Liz said that she and Peter were very moved by the occasion.

A warm welcome was assured for whenever the couple came back to visit the community at Coldridge.
