A PHOTOGRAPH of a group of their sheep and lambs, a flowering tree and another of a Dorset beach won two prizes for 11-years-old Bethany Moore, a pupil at Yeoford Primary School.
Bethany had entered the local round of the Rotary Young Photographer of the Year competition, winning that and then going on to be a runner up when her photographs went forward to the district round, all Devon and Cornwall.
As well as certificates, Bethany received a £25 Amazon voucher prize each time.
Rotarian Nick Warrick district organiser of the competition, told Bethany that the judges had said the overall standard was very high. Of Bethany’s work they said she had made “nice use of tonal range”.
Her awards were presented at Yeoford School by Paul Taylor and Nick Yarnold, both members of the youth committee of the Rotary Club of Boniface Crediton.
Her photographs will be on display in the window of Hotchkiss Warburton solicitor’s offices on Crediton High Street. Bethany was 10 at the time of the competition, her 11th birthday was in December.
Each entrant had to submit three photographs on the theme Our World is Beautiful.
At the Crediton round, the winner of the intermediate group, 11-13 years, was Jamie Woodland who lives in Copplestone and goes to Queen Elizabeth’s School.
Winner of the local senior category, 14-17 years, was Charlie Sibley who goes to Chulmleigh Community College.
