A HEARTY breakfast gives a good start to any day, especially when shared with other people.

At Sandford Parish Hall on Sunday, February 12, Newton St Cyres Young Farmers’ Club held its annual Big Breakfast to raise funds for the Exeter Stroke Unit and Club funds.

It offered those who went along a hearty breakfast, shared with other people.

Last year’s event raised almost £3,000 for two other charities.  Many of the club’s Advisory committee and vice presidents went along on Sunday morning.

There was fruit juice to start with and then bacon and sausage from Exe Valley Farm Shop, the six trays of eggs (180) were donated by the Ayre Family of Shute, and the milk was donated by the Sandford Gate Milk Company.

The club tried to keep it as much locally sourced as possible and included tomatoes and baked beans, hash browns and toast.
