WHEN Yeoford lost its village hall opposite the parish church for development several years ago, the church lost facilities it had shared with the hall such as toilets and a kitchen.

Carol Price, a Reader and Warden of the little church, said that this was a particular problems for such as weddings, baptisms or funerals, especially when people had travelled some distance.

She said the church had a popular weekly Monday morning cafe until Covid closed that and there had been hopes of adding a lunch club for residents.

“We also have a library so anyone can borrow books, the school uses the church for services and performances but could probably make more use of it if we had toilets,” she said.

“We have planning permission for a kitchen, a disabled toilet with baby changing facilities and are in the process of getting a Faculty for the work from the Church of England.

“We have been raising money for the past two years and, hopefully, have funding from The Churches Trust if we can match fund.

“Several fundraising events we had planned for this year have had to be cancelled so I am appealing for help from the village and friends to help us to continue the work of supporting the village both practically and spiritually.

“We are completely self-supporting, the only grant we get is from Crediton Hamlets Parish Council for cutting the grass in our church yard,” Carol explained.

The church has already raised £8,500 but needs a further £5,000. Anyone wishing to help can do so through Go Fund Me and click on the Yeoford Church Kitchen and Toilet Fund or send a cheque to Carol Price at The Cleave, Woodland Head, Yeoford EX17 5HF, making a cheque out to Holy Trinity Church, Yeoford.

The church will be open for the Harvest Festival 10am service on October 11 and on October 25 for the 9.30am Holy Communion.

On Monday, October 5 and 19 there will be Time for Prayer at 9.10am.
