CHILDREN have been having fun at Crediton Library’s Summer Reading Challenge “Ready, Set, Read!” programme of activities.

On Thursday, August, 17 they enjoyed creating and decorating paper plate frisbees.

They then tested them by flying them around in the library while others went out to Newcombes Meadow park to fly them outside.

On Tuesday, August 22, Ruth and Sophie from Sciencedipity provided an exciting session of team games and hands-on science activities to teach children about the role the heart and lungs play in sport and exercise. Children enjoyed learning about heart and lung anatomy, how to use stethoscopes, sphygmomanometers, and other scientific equipment.

They carried out a fizzing fun experiment to capture carbon dioxide gas and learn fun facts about oxygen and CO2.

The last of the summer activities for children is today, Thursday, August 31. Drop in to Crediton Library any time between 2pm and 4pm for the free Mini Foosball Table craft.

Create and decorate a tabletop football game using a shoebox, pegs for the footballers, wooden dowels as the rods and polystyrene balls for footballs.
