COPPLESTONE is, sadly, a village without a community hall, and local residents are doing all they can to raise funds towards one.
Taking the baton from the hard work and dedication of the late John Mason, the newly-formed fundraising committee says it has started full throttle with no intention of slowing down until it gets its hall.
Recently more than 15 members have been attending weekly meetings.
A Cider Tour, Tasting and Pizza evening held at Sandford Orchards in Crediton recently raised more than £400 towards the appeal.
The next event will be an End of Summer Fun Day to be held at Copplestone Recreation Ground on Saturday, September 9 from 12 noon to 4pm.
Attractions will include vintage cars, vintage games, welly throwing, splat the rat, Tiverton New Generation Majorettes, tug of war with Bow Young Farmers’, children’s races, a goalie challenge, bouncy castles and face painting.
There will be a bar, food, tea, coffee and cakes, a range of stalls and music.
Admission will be £2 for adults and it will be free-of-charge for children.
Helpers, or those who would like to book at stall, should telephone 07871 911 479 or message via the Facebook page: @copplestonecommunityhall .
Further dates for the diary include a Wellness Day at the Copplestone Methodist Church on Saturday, October 7, from 1pm to 5pm, with stalls, massages and treats all chosen for the purpose of enriching minds and body.
A Ladies Evening, with Fashion Show hosted by SNOB and Kathea Boutiques, will be held at the Waie Inn, Zeal Monachorum on Friday, November 24 from 7pm to 10pm.
Ladies are invited to watch the show, browse the stalls, get their nails manicured, indulge in chocolate, listen to live music and generally feel fantastic for the night.
