WHEN Holly Holmes married Patrick Phillips at Crediton Congregational Church not only her father gave her away but her four brothers in the congregation each stood up to congratulate them on their fourth attempt to wed and welcome Patrick into the family.
The daughter of Martyn and Sarah Holmes of Crediton, Holly wore a full length gown trimmed with lace and covered in a shimmering glitter with a sweetheart neckline.
She was attended by two bridesmaids, life long friend Sarah Hewlett and her sister-in-law Kayleigh Holmes with two flower girls, her nieces Isla Phillips and Florence Holmes.
Mid Devon Mobility bus based in Crediton and driven by Paul Fallon had been hired by the family because of parking issues at the Congregational Church and at Sandford where the reception was held, taking people home at the end.
The bus looked very special decorated with wedding ribbons. This was only the second time it had been used for a wedding. It is also available for such as day trips for people in care homes or group such as WIs.
The church band played during the service with Red Dirt Band playing at the evening reception at The Lamb Inn, Sandford.
They had two cakes, one lemon and one chocolate made by the local Old Parlour Bakes.
The day was made even more special by BBC’s “Songs of Praise” filming, to be aired in the autumn.
