THE Crediton area received a boost and the largest slice of the cake when this year's roads programme for Mid Devon was agreed in a meeting at Tiverton this week.

County and District councillors heard that £177,000 was available for local improvements and schemes.

Amongst them was a scheme for a footpath at Bewsley Hill in Copplestone, costing £62,000. Cllr Nick Way (Liberal Democrat, Crediton Rural) told the meeting: "This is very necessary to protect the increasing numbers of local residents walking to the village centre.
