CHRIS Parsons, Crediton Foodbank Co-ordinator, made a request in the “Crediton Courier” back in May for someone to come forward who could mend and make good the flooring in the Crediton Foodbank that had become rotten and unsafe.
Andy Burrows from Andy’s Tiling responded and kindly gave up his time, skills and energy to replace the rotten floor at The Manse, Crediton Congregational Church.
He was also able to get donations of board from Jewsons and tiles from Topp’s Tiles, Exeter.
With a fresh coat of paint and a new blind the Foodbank now has a much brighter new look!
Chris told the “Courier”: “Sometimes people feel embarrassed or quite low at having to use the Foodbank so a bright, friendly environment is important.
“This summer has been particularly busy as more and more people are struggling to make their monthly income last.
“This is a national trend with ’low income’ overtaking ’benefits delay’ as the reason people are having to ask for support.
“This is going to be exacerbated by the introduction of Universal Credit to the area, that now looks as if it is coming this month, having been postponed from June.
“So a huge thank you to Andy’s Tiling, Jewson’s and Topp’s Tiles for their time and resources.”
