Quotations for the work were obtained and after several months sufficient funds had been promised or donated for the necessary permissions to be applied for. Rector Nigel Guthrie would like to thank all those who have financially contributed to the flag pole project: the Governors of Holy Cross, The Friends of Crediton Church, Devon County Council Community Fund and a number of generous individual donations and memorial gifts.
The 10 metre high fibre glass flagpole was put in place in June by Western Steeplejacks from Exeter.
It is planned that the St George Flag will be flying from the tower at Holy Cross on a number of fixed and variable dates throughout the year. Examples include the Queen's Birthday, St. George's Day, Queen's Wedding Day, Christmas Day, Ascension Day, Remembrance Sunday and the Flower and Christmas Tree Festivals at Holy Cross.
A selection of pictures showing the installation and getting the flag pole on to the tower roof are currently on display near the Vicar's Door at Holy Cross.
