FLOWER Power is the theme of Witheridge St John’s Fair this year - and everyone is invited to dress up in their flares and platforms!

The Fair takes place tomorrow, Saturday, June 22 and the organisers promise prizes for those in the best fancy dress costumes.

The grand parade will start promptly at 11am, and ample car parking is available in the field next to Witheridge St John’s Church, so the advice is get there in good time.

This year’s show will include Beetles, VW vans, vintage cars, horses, belly dancers, Pipes and Drums, majorettes, hounds, children from our local schools and much, much more.

Once the Royal Charter is read in the square, followed by a performance by North Devon Pipes and Drums and another from Witheridge Primary School children, everyone can head to the Parish Hall and Parish Hall fields where craft stalls, food stalls, bar and ice cream will be on offer.

To entertain, Exmoor Zoo will be displaying and talking about its wild animals and there will also be Punch and Judy and a Magic Show for the little ones.

New this year is a Storyteller, for all ages, and Belly Dancers, who will also teach visitors how to Belly Dance!

Liz Morris’ famous Dog Show will take place all afternoon – all variety of dogs very welcome. There will be prizes for lots of classes including Best Rescue Dog and Best Trick.

Equally popular is the Witheridge “Bake Off”. To be in with a chance to win, take your cake to the Parish Hall before 12 noon.

Witheridge Tae Kwon Do, Young Farmers’ and local community groups will also be taking part with fun stalls and demonstrations.

The Fun Fair will again be located at the Witheridge Sports Club. This will run from Thursday evening through to Saturday evening.

Children’s races and the exciting Egg Throwing Competition will finish the afternoon on Saturday, June 22, before Children’s Teatime special by Mama Johns at 5.30pm followed by a Children’s disco in the Marquee until 7pm.

The rest of the evening, from 7pm to 10pm is the Adult Disco – complete with a bar and Mama John’s best selection of hot food.
