THE hustle and bustle of the Christmas season seemed far away at the January meeting of Crediton Flower Club.

Donna Lamb, who lives in Bow and owns Divine Flowers in Crediton, demonstrated her chosen theme “Rustic”. Her skills were evident in her displays with each arrangement having its own natural charm.

Cream hellebores were used in Donna’s first arrangement. Using a log “slice” as a base, a beautiful piece of twisted willow and twigs were tied together to create height and the hellebores were placed amongst the branches, producing a delightful display.

Next, a basket arrangement. Leather leaf fern, pittosporum and eucalyptus together with blue Iris and eucalyptus, Veronica, lilac and September flowers created a beautiful blend of colour. Delightful!

The soft, subtle colours of peach hypericum, cream hellebores and green bupleurum looked absolutely delightful displayed in a most innovative container - a large tin covered in hessian.

Donna then chose the gorgeous cymbidium orchids, pussy willow and ivy to create a simple, natural design using bark as a base.

For the finale, Donna chose a hand-tied arrangement using a mixture of blue/purple and pink which included ranunculus and eryngiums.

A member asked Donna what was her favourite flower was and she replied “whatever was in her hand at the time”.

The next meeting, on Thursday, February 14, will be a DIY Evening at the Boniface Centre at 7.15pm.

Visitors and new members welcome. If there are any enquiries please contact chairman, Gay Mullins, on telephone 01363 774791.
