AFTER a long search for new leaders First Crediton Scout Group officially invested Jon Russell and George Bond as Scout Leaders on Thursday, February 22 by Assistant District Commissioner George Davey, the date also being the birthday of the founder of Scouting, Lord Baden-Powell born in 1857.
Just before Christmas the group said farewell to long-term Scout Leader Shane Bayley along with assistant Scout Leaders Karen and Mark Randall.
It was not looking very promising to find replacements to fill these roles.
Fortunately, both Jon and George stepped forward and between them they bring a lot of previous Scouting experience.
Jon, in the past, has been a Leader in North Devon and George was a Cub at First Crediton. Both will also be joined by John Gillard as an occasional helper.
Debbie Richards, Group Scout Leader, said: "We are delighted that Jon and George have joined our team which enables our young members to continue their Scouting journey.
"We look forward to continuing to provide many opportunities for all to have fun, challenge and adventure.
Scouting is not just for the young!
Adults volunteering in Scouting can gain fun and friendship too.
