PUPILS at Crediton’s Landscore Primary School dressed in red on Friday, March 18 for Comic Relief and also held a competition to find the best joke.

The “Find Your Funny” competition was organised by School Council members, Evie and Matt Harris.

The joke competition asked pupils to choose their best joke and share it.

Staff judged the different year groups and then Evie and Matt judged the staff jokes.

A winner and runner-up was selected in each team.

These were shared in Celebration Assembly on the Friday afternoon, and were presented with their prizes of Comic Relief mugs, activity books and wristbands.

The winners were as follows:

EYFS – Early Years:

Winner – Eloise – Why did the toilet roll, roll down the hill?  To get to the bottom

Runner-Up – Why do sea-gulls fly over the sea?  Because if they flew over the bay they would be bagels

Team 1 (Years 1 and 2):

Winner – Olivia - Why did 2x4 skip dinner?  Because they already eight

Runner-Up – Jacob - What do you call a Hippo with one leg?  A Hoppo

Team 2 (Years 3 and 4):

Winner – Sophie - Why did the dolphin blush? Because the sea weed

Runner-Up – Adelaide - Why was the elephant asked to leave the swimming pool? He couldn’t hold up his trunks

Team 3 (Years 5 and 6):

Winner – What does an earwig say when it falls down the stairs?  Ear we go

Runner-Up – Toby - What do you call an alligator wearing a vest?  An investigator

Highly commended – Helena - What are the warmest parts of the room? The corners, they are always 90 degrees.

Staff:

Winner – Mrs James - Why couldn’t the bicycle stand up?  Because it was two-tyred

Runner-Up – Kurt (Caretaker) - Knock Knock, Who’s there? Little Man, Little Man Who? Little Man who can’t reach the doorbell.

A collection of £216 was made for Comic Relief.

Debbie Main, Headteacher said: “It was lovely to hear the laughter in assembly on Friday as we shared the winning jokes, and the smiles as pupils left for the weekend were brilliant.”
