THERE was a more unusual activity held at Crediton Arts Centre on a Monday afternoon.

A group of 15 people had a fun and “inspiring" experience making “feet felt” with artist Yuli Somme and the EcoCrafternoon Crediton project.

Artist Yuli Somme demonstrated how to wrap the foot on one of the participants.

Participants took turns to ‘dress’ each others feet in Corriedale wool, though one participant added wool from her own flock too!

Participants prepared wool patches the size of postcards and then wrapped each other's feet, before dancing the wool into “feet felts”.

The moulds of people’s feet are like delicate slippers.

People commented on how it was easy to imagine them in a medieval outfit.

The Dance Party could then begin! Everyone got moving to felt the wool. There was also some spontaneous singing along to the fabulous playlist of classics put together by the Turning Tides Project.

At the end of the event, participants sat together to rinse and reveal their finished feet felts!

One participant plans to take a version of the activity into groups she supports.

There are still events in the EcoCraftland Crediton series, including printing, proddy rug making, and needle felting.
