DEVON, Somerset and Torbay Trading Standards is holding an online event to promote mental health and well-being in the farming community on Friday, July 31.

The ongoing Covid-19 crisis and increasing industry pressures mean that the region’s farmers are under pressure more than ever. This has led to increased incidents of mental illness within the industry.

To recognise this Devon, Somerset and Torbay Trading Standards is working on several projects to help tackle the stigma surrounding mental health and to help publicise the support and guidance available to those who need it.

The event will be online and will feature speakers from The Farming Community Network, The Yellow Wellies Campaign and The National Federation of Young Farmers’ Clubs.

Each organisation will focus on the importance of mental health and well-being highlighting what help is available and where to get support.

There will be an opportunity to ask the speakers and Trading Standards Officers questions. The format of the meeting will allow you to do this anonymously if you prefer.

Those unable to attend the online event will have the opportunity to watch it again on the Trading Standards YouTube page the following week.

Those interested in attending this online event should contact Chris Rice by emailing: [email protected] or by calling 01392 388743.

The event is on Friday, July 31 between 6pm and 8pm.
