MID Devon Farming Life Group October's meeting took place at Farmer Luxton’s, Butchers and Farm Shop, at Okehampton, where a full house enjoyed a meal served by the staff, followed by a meat cutting demonstration by Stuart Luxton.

It was a very interesting and skilful display of different cuts and beautifully prepared meat.

We also heard of the history of the business which employs several employees.

It was good to hear that the butchers he employs are trained on the premises and all are 21 and under which is encouraging to know that the skills are maintained for future generations.

We were also able to see the wide range of quality meats and produce which are available in the shop.

Well worth a visit. A big thank you to Stuart Luxton and his staff for a interesting and enjoyable evening.

Next meeting will be on Wednesday, November 26 at the Waie Inn, 7pm for 7.30pm when the speaker will be Matt Jackson - Farming Life in Romania.
