SINCE the early 1970's an annual exhibition with flowers at Crediton Parish Church has become probably the premier event of its kind in the south west region.
Over the years it has raised thousands of pounds towards the ongoing upkeep and restoration of Holy Cross at Crediton.
A Grade 1 listed building, largely dates from between 1400 and 1500, it is the fourth building on or near the current site and has a traceable history back to 739.
It was the site of Devon's first cathedral from 909 until 1050.
Many visitors from both the United Kingdom and overseas are drawn to Crediton each year to see the building, one of the finest parish churches in England, and learn out about Crediton's Saxon heritage and St Boniface.
Holy Cross is one of only three churches in this country owned by a Corporate Group of Church Governors, who amongst other responsibilities, oversee its upkeep on behalf of the townspeople and inhabitants of the parish of Crediton.
This year the theme of the exhibition has been inspired by the popular BBC series Coast.
