THE Creative Craft Show returns to Exeter from Thursday, September 22 to Sunday, September 25, bringing the hottest new supplies and latest trends to crafters.
An unmissable date in any crafter’s calendar in the South West, the Creative Craft Show will be held at Westpoint, Exeter.
The ultimate weekend for hobbyists, crafters and stitchers, the Creative Craft Show will welcome in the Autumn season with cosy displays and festive features from local artists, crafters and organisations with the theme of harvest.
Visitors to the Creative Craft Show can dive into a wide range of practical workshops and demonstrations providing visitors with the opportunity to try something new and go away with a finished piece to keep.
The show will host leading Westcountry crafting experts offering inspiration, ideas and tips. Joining the show in September will be:
Devon Feltmakers
Devon Feltmakers are a non-profit group trying to spread the word about felting, both wet felting and needle felting. They particularly like to promote the use of British wool. On show will be felting and spinning demonstrations.
Woodbury Woodturners With lots of daily demonstrations, the team based in East Devon will show visitors how to make an array of wonderful items encouraging, developing, and promoting the art and science of woodturning.
Cornish Craftwork A new addition for the show this year, visitors will be able to participate in beautiful rush weaving workshops. Basket making professional, Anne Thomas uses willow mostly commercially grown in Somerset for her work and rush that she hand-harvests herself from the Somerset levels. Anne is passionate about the ancient skill of basket making and has been teaching workshops for several years.
Exeter Craft Hub Sonya Ellis opened the Exeter Craft Hub in October 2019 to enable local craftspeople to sell their items, support each other and promote the amazing talent within the area.
The group run various crafting workshops within the city centre shop and will be running a series of paper crafting workshops per day throughout the show, suitable for all ages and experience.
Crafting with Lyndsey
Lyndsey has created a range of kits, tutorials and workshops especially for this year’s show where you can try crafts from macramé to sewing and bargello needlepoint to weaving. The kits are perfect for beginners and those with craft experience that want to try something new.
Art by Design Studio
Devon-based Art by Design Studio, will be offering demonstrations of drawing and painting throughout the show; using oil on canvas, still life flowers, fruit, ceramics, from direct observation. They will be available on stand to chat about their various workshops and courses.
In addition to this variety of crafting talent from the West Country, visitors to the show will have a unique opportunity to see the “Woman’s Weekly” Vintage Exhibition.
A few years ago, “Woman’s Weekly” asked its readers to send in sewing patterns and vintage fabrics from the past, then working closely with dressmakers and an archivist, they have put together a capsule exhibition that will take you on a walk down fashion memory lane.
After honing new crafting skills from the experts, ticket holders can shop and replenish their home supply stashes with the latest products and creations from exhibitors offering all things from knitting and sewing to felting, quilting and papercraft.
