IT is not often people in Crediton get the chance to hear a viola recital, so the next St Boniface Concert, on Thursday, July 21, will be a real treat, when it brings an exciting young duo, brimful of talent, to Crediton Parish Church.

Viola player, Luba Tunnicliffe, is just finishing her postgraduate studies at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama where she won the Guildhall School’s Max and Peggy Morgan Award in 2014.

She is the recipient of various awards including the Countess of Munster Musical Trust who are supporting this concert.

She has recently formed a new duo with pianist Hannah Watson who started her studies at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in 2012.

Highlights of her career to-date include a concerto performance with the Guildford Symphony Orchestra and a song recital with mezzo soprano Ellie Edmonds at St-Martin-in-the-Fields.

Their programme will include Vieuxtemps - Sonata for Viola and Piano Op.36”; Edwin Roxburgh – Ricercare; Britten - Lachrymae” and Hindemith - “Sonata Op.11 No.4.

Tickets, priced at £14 (student/concession £6, Under 16s free) are available from A E Lee Outfitters, High Street, Crediton and on the door on the evening of the concert.
