FOUR times UK beatboxing champion, Grace Savage, has released a short film as one of the BBC Arts and Arts Council England 25 new commissions as part of Culture in Quarantine.

A multi-faceted artist, Grace grew up in the Crediton area, is a former Queen Elizabeth’s School pupil, multi-award winning beatboxer turned electronic-pop singer and songwriter.

She released her first EP in 2017, three more have followed, she has performed at such as Glastonbury, Altitude and Wilderness and has found herself more and more becoming a voice for women in music and wider society.

“Her + Her” is the short film now on BBC iPlayer, shot on an iPhone in lockdown by Grace with her partner, Jade Anouka.

It is a lyrical and musical short film that uses beatboxing, live looping and singing to accompany the journey of an inter-racial lesbian couple, who have just moved in together, told through poetry/spoken word.

Actor and poet Jade Anouka most recently appeared on our screens in ITV’s “Cleaning Up”, Netflix comedy “Turn Up Charlie” and feel good feature films “Fisherman’s Friends” and “Last Christmas”.

Grace is also an actor and appeared in a play at the National Theatre a few years ago called “Home “ which received great reviews.

She is making waves in the music industry with continuous support from BBC Introducing and was listed as one of Elle’s “100 Most Inspiring Women”.
